David I was raised in a Christian home. My father Dr. Joe West started Town East Baptist Church in 1958, which is the year that I was born. I made a profession of faith when I was younger, but never had the assurance although I spoke to my father many times and he tried to help me. At the age of 22 I realized that I was not saved and I called on the Lord on October 31, 1980. I had my own business, West Painting and Roofing for over 20 years and then in 2000 God called us to the mission field of central Mexico. He specifically placed on our heart the ranchos(villages) in the state of San Luis Potosí. We arrived on the field in June 2002. Darla was raised in a home that was not a Christian home. She rode the bus with her two sisters to Town East Baptist Church and was saved when she was 12 years old. Later, both of her parents were saved during a revival at Town East Baptist Church. Darla and David both graduated from Town East Christian School and they married in 1979.
