God's love for me and his love for humanity kept my heart growing, until one day, I said, “Okay Lord, I am yours and I want to do your will not mine.” I had always found myself extremely interested in Missions. So, when I moved to Wichita Kansas, I joined Riverlawn Christian Church. This is the Church where I decided to confirm my faith in the Lord with a water-baptism and joined the church’s mission team. But it was not until several years later that I felt called to enter full-time ministry, as a Missionary. When I came back from a mission trip in March of 2023, I paid attention and heard him clearly.
Confused and nervous I thought to myself, “why me and why now?” This was my first responses to Gods calling. But God did not explain the details to me. In fact, He was mute in answering my questions. Until this verse came to mind, “God does not call the equipped, but he equips the called.” – Exodus 4:10. Still struggling with being called to the mission field, I said “yes,” and with a heart for Jesus, I was determined to be obedient! If I were going to work for God’s kingdom, I knew I would have to get serious about it. So, on October 31, 2023, I resigned from my comfortable Government position and started researching all I could about places to rent, Visas and traveling back to the Philippines.
Looking back, I have had a heart for the Philippines and the people there for many years. I was stationed in the Philippines, outside of Manila as an Air Force active military member and fell in love with the people there. God reminded me that even back then, he had been preparing me to go back and serve his people. I had helped out while on Active Duty back then and now I was going to go back as a Missionary. Who would have thought, right? Fully believing that God will provide for me and place me with just the right individuals and those that I need to reach and minister to, I have placed 100% of my trust in him for all my needs.
