My story begins in a small town thirteen miles north of the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was born into a Christian family and received Christ as my Savior at the age of five. Our church held mission conferences, and I met many different missionaries over the years. I loved to see their slides. From a young age God began to put a burden in my heart for missions.
When I was 12 years old, Bro. Robert Schmidt, the World Baptist Fellowship Mission’s Director at that time, came to our church. He preached from Isaiah 6. He challenged the young people to surrender their lives for missions. When the invitation began, I knew that God was truly calling me and I surrendered my life to be a missionary.
After graduating from high school, I attended Bible Baptist Seminary. I was studying to be a missionary, but I had no idea to which country I would go. After graduation I began praying and asking God to show me where He wanted me to go. It was then I met Shelby and Stella Mayo. They had just returned home on furlough and were looking for missionaries to go to Indonesia. They told me that I could be a great help to them in the Bible College and with the children and ladies ministries. God had opened the door for me to go to Indonesia! That was 50 years ago!
My ministry includes:
Teaching in two Bible colleges (subjects that deal with teaching Sunday
School). There have been 100’s of graduates and there are over 120 Ind. Baptist churches and missions works that have been started since the Bible college first began.
Translating, printing, and distributing Kindergarten, Elementary and Teen Sunday School materials. These materials are being used by hundreds of churches and missions.
Preparing VBS materials for our churches and missions
Teaching children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible Schools
Teaching ladies
Holding Sunday School seminars and workshops
Holding seminars on singleness for ladies
